When I went to put my bag in the bin above my seat, I heard the flight attendant say, “ninety degrees sir.”   I smiled and put my bag up and in; after all, this wasn’t exactly my first time bringing a bag on board. As a matter of fact, I carry the shortest bag made that offers a suitor, (a tri-fold section for suits,) and there isn’t a full-size overhead compartment this bag won’t go straight into.   At a mere 21” long and 14” wide, I’m no bag hog! Once I proudly placed my bag above, I once again heard the flight attendant repeat her message, “ninety degrees sir.”   Somewhat puzzled, I smiled, and with a sarcastic expression, I pointed to my bag snuggly in place. I thought that the flight attendant might think the bin would not close, so I reached up, closed it, and then opened it again.   When I looked back at the flight attendant, I smiled smugly and shot her a fake, “go bother someone else who is hogging overheard space” smile. Rather than getting a congratulatory smile from the flight attendant, I was once again serenaded with the words “ninety degrees, sir.” In a flustered and somewhat frustrated maneuver, I turned the bag lengthwise and said, “I can’t imagine you want me to turn the bag this way; I have no idea what you mean by ninety degrees!” I’m not ashamed to say I was angry.   I was angry because I’ve been on many, many planes and I didn’t know what she wanted me to do! I think I was most angry, though, because the airlines have been trying to solve this baggage issue for decades, and I thought I was going to see something innovative and groundbreaking!   Instead, I saw the same old plane with the same old luggage rack… or so I thought. Seeing and hearing my frustration, the flight attendant finally came over and showed me.   With a sly smile, she walked up and without removing the bag, she turned the bag 90 degrees.   In an instant, with the slightest of changes, and one twist of the wrist, the overhead bins had just expanded by nearly 40%, and every bag made it on board on that sold out flight. “It’s easy to make simple things complicated, but the real talent comes from making complicated things simple.” Have you ever thought what solution might be hiding in plain sight from you?  Maybe it’s an idea that’s sitting right under your nose… a mere 90 degrees away. Being from Michigan, I am inundated daily either via the television, radio, internet, or newspaper with gloom and doom about our economy at its worst in 30 years, etc. Its easy to get sucked into the attitude no one is hiring. Im here to tell you THATS NOT TRUE. People are getting hired every day. My clients send me feedback all the time with good news. Im not saying that the economy/job market is super what Im saying is it is in your attitude. Attitude plays a key role in your job search. Think about some of your best days when you felt like you were on a roll. Maybe you woke up and it was sunny outside. You checked your email and you got a response from a resume posting. Feeling excited, suddenly you get a phone call from an old pal who says his co-workers wifes company has a position opening up that would be perfect for you. And so on. Suddenly, life is wonderful, the world is full of opportunities, jobs are everywhere, and YOU ARE IN DEMAND. See how it was a domino effect? Its all about energy. When you are feeling positive, you are sending out positive transmitters, Hire me Im perfect for the job!. When you are feeling negative, what is the domino effect you transmit? No one will hire me. There are NO jobs out there. I will never get a job, unless it is some fast-food place for minimum wage etc. You are putting out your own frequencies. The U.S. Women’s Hockey Team changed the game last month, by vowing to boycott the World Championship until U.S.A. Hockey drastically increased their compensation. After more than a year of negotiations, U.S.A. Hockey finally agreed last week to give the players a monthly stipend, travel insurance, and better bonus payouts. “If you stick to your guns and stick to what you believe in, and communicate with each other, you can do big things,” Meghan Duggan, the captain of the team, told MONEY. “I hope what we did shows young girls, shows anyone, is to stick together, stay strong, and fight for what you believe in.” 4. Shannon Stapletonâ€"Reuters Last month, Iceland became the first country to introduce a law requiring companies with over 25 employees and government agencies to undergo pay audits and “obtain a certification of compliance with equal pay rules,” according to the New York Times. Iceland is ranked first in the world on the World Economic Forum’s Global Gender Gap Index, and has had equal pay laws on the books for 50 years. But women in the Nordic country still earn roughly 14 to 20 percent less than men, per government statistics. Some businesses oppose the measure, calling it burdensome and costly. “When it comes to the workplace, men have enjoyed a certain level of privilege for a long time,” saidIceland’s social affairs and equality minister Thorsteinn Viglundsson. “But if you look at the vested interests for society of eliminating discrimination against women, that far outweighs any regulatory burden.”
